Major: Business Administration — Marketing
Hometown: Irvine, CA
Program Position: Student Event Coordinator | AS Productions
How did you first get connected with AS Productions (ASP)?
When I was a sophomore I saw an opening for an event staff member through the AS website. I applied and got it and worked at what was then Union Label for a year. Then I applied for an opening for an event coordinator for what is now AS Productions in hopes of having more of an impact and more responsibility.
How would you describe your role as the Event Coordinator at AS Productions?
I come in every day getting to be as creative as possible. A lot of our job is creating new and fun events students will enjoy. I personally handle more of the music side of things – anything from finding local talent for our Nooners, planning a music showcase last year, or talking with agencies to bring artists for potential concerts.
What does working at AS Productions do for you personally, professionally, or academically?
AS Productions has personally introduced me to some amazing people. I have a great boss and awesome co-workers. The office is in the Wildcat Leadership Center which is great because everyone brings a good energy to the space and is always smiling. Professionally, this job has taught me to be a lot more organized and goal driven. Having an idea for an event isn’t good enough, you have to have the mindset to follow through and finish it.
What do YOU hope to bring to the table in your role as the Event Coordinator?
I hope to bring more awareness for AS Productions. We have had five name changes in the past 12 years, so when I started I wanted to really brand our name and get more people to know what we do. And I think collaboration is a big part of that — working with other great organizations such as Umatter, KCSC Radio or SOTA Productions. Getting involved with more established programs that are filled with passionate students is important to me. I want to keep AS Productions always moving forward, constantly trying new things, while growing to always do bigger and better events.
What are your career plans and how does your job with the Associated Students better prepare you for that path?
As of right now my career plans are up in the air. Whether I go into sales, business management, or working for talent agencies, I know that working for AS Productions has helped me grow as a professional. Being able to interact with every type of person, meeting deadlines, talent prospecting, and promoting events have taught me to be resilient, passionate, and determined. I owe a lot of my growth to AS Productions and for that I am very grateful.
