Major: Music Industry/Recording Arts
Hometown: Long Beach, CA
Program Position: Promotions Director | KCSC
How did you first get connected with KCSC?
Sarah Manha. She basically dragged me to the informational meeting my sophomore year. I was so nervous I didn’t want go at all but thank goodness I did. I never would have joined if it weren’t for her!!
How would you describe your role as the Promotions Director at KCSC?
I handle all forms of promotions for the station. We do all sorts of ticket giveaways throughout the year as well as contests with local companies. We sponsor fundraisers; DJ weekly on campus and at many of the other Associated Students events; co-produce events on campus with AS Productions and SOTA Productions, and so much more.
What does working at KCSC do for you personally, professionally, or academically?
Personally, the people at KCSC are my family here in Chico, they are my best friends and my support group (and they laugh at all my stupid jokes), and the station is where I feel most at home on campus. I have grown so much professionally while I have been at KCSC, but I think the most important thing I learned was that it was possible for me to make a career out my passion, and how exactly to balance that.
What do YOU hope to bring to the table in your role as the Promotions Director?
For me KCSC is so much more than just an internship here at Chico. Like I said, this is a place of total acceptance and friendship stemming from a mutual love and respect for music. More than anything, I want to make the students who join KCSC feel just as at home and as safe and loved as I do while I am there, and I want to spread the news of this amazing station to as many students as I possibly can so they might get the chance to experience that!
What are your career plans and how does your job with the Associated Students better prepare you for that path?
I fully plan on pursuing a career in the Music Industry, which KCSC Radio definitely prepares me for, for obvious reasons. KCSC also has a ton of extremely successful and well-connected alumni currently working in the industry who are more than willing to help out a fellow KCSC intern! Working at this station helped to show me how I can be successful working in a field that I love and am super passionate about.
