Major: Music Industry and French
Hometown: Rohnert Park, CA
Program Position: General Manager | KCSC
How did you first get connected with the Associated Students?
I started out as an intern for KCSC Radio, working on the Library Staff. After that I became the Library Director and now I’m the General Manager of the station.
How would you describe your current role with KCSC?
Right now I am in charge of the station as a whole, and I work as a liaison between our 90+ interns and the AS administration. I deal with any problems our interns have, help the staff directors with anything they need and make sure that any broken or out-of-date equipment is replaced.
What does working for KCSC do for you personally, professionally, or academically?
Working for KCSC is a great opportunity for me. I love having access to all sorts of new music and the people at KCSC are fantastic. It will really help me with my major in the Music Industry as well, especially if I choose to focus on working in radio after I graduate.
What do YOU bring to the table in your position at KCSC?
My personal goal at KCSC is to set up an organized system to help not only the Board of Directors in their everyday tasks, but also the next GM who comes after me. I want to make sure that future KCSCers can get straight to the fun part of interning with the least amount of paperwork/confusion that always comes with enrolling and staffing the station. I just like making life a little easier for everybody, if I can.
What are your career plans and how does your job with the Associated Students better prepare you for that path?
As terrible as it sounds, I am still undecided on the direction I want to go after I graduate. Specifics are difficult to pinpoint, but I know that working with the AS helps a lot by giving me support and direction from the long-term staffers here. I know that if I chose to continue in a managing position in the music industry, I would be prepared for anything.
