How would you describe your role as a Senator for the College of Natural Sciences?
My role as the College of Natural Sciences Senator is to be here for the students as a resource and a liaison between students, the dean’s office and the Associated Students. Students are encouraged and welcome to come to the dean or Associated Students, but I am also here as an additional contact when they need assistance or have suggestions for our college.
What do YOU bring to the table in your role as a Senator for the College of Natural Sciences?
I have been at Chico State since I was an undergrad, and during that time I have held numerous club officer positions and I have gotten to know many of our faculty and staff. As a graduate student, I am continuing to support students within our college through clubs and mentoring.
What current projects are you working on to better your College?
I aim to bring all the Natural Sciences clubs and leaders together to form a unified goal for our college on an academically, socially and philanthropic level. As a group, we will decide on what projects need to be developed to better our college and ways we can give back to the community.
What legacy would you like to leave for the next set of elected Senators?
Students should feel comfortable voicing their opinions and enacting change and progress. For the next set of Senators, I want to ensure an open door policy. I want students to feel comfortable voicing their concerns, suggestions and praises to the faculty and Dean’s office.
How do you see this position developing next year?
My goal is to give our students the opportunity to develop this position into what they need it to be. I am here as a resource for our students in the capacity that they need this position to hold.
