How did you first get connected with the AS Financial Services Office (FSO)?
When I first started my college career at Chico State, I knew that I wanted to have a job on campus that was related to my major at that time (Business). Once I found this opening at the Financial Services Office, I knew it would be perfect for me. I applied right away and was surprised when I got a call to have an interview the next week. Within a couple of days after my interview, I received a call from my supervisor offering me the job.

How would you describe your current role with the FSO?
My current role with FSO is in the Accounts Payable area where I perform numerous clerical duties around the office. My main goal is to properly organize check requests and constantly update files for the current/past fiscal year. I have worked in other areas around the office such as Front Desk and Data Entry where I help out as much as I can once I’ve finished all my duties.

What does working for FSO do for you personally, professionally, or academically?
Working for FSO has helped me so much professionally. I have had clerical jobs in the past, but this job has helped me improve those skills in every way possible. I have personally benefited from this job by being able to communicate well with customers.

What do YOU bring to the table in your position with the FSO?
I am a very dedicated and determined person who will always make sure everything is done properly and in a timely manner. I believe these characteristics are what helped me throughout my years working with the FSO.

What are your career plans and how does your job with the Associated Students better prepare you for that path?
My career plans are to participate in an outreach program that will help Native Americans reach their goals in life, whether that be graduating high school or going to college. Being half Native, I feel there is a need for motivation with our native youth. My job with AS will better prepare me for this path because it has taught me the concept of hard work. If we set our mind to a goal in life, we can achieve it through hard work and determination.
