Major: Communication Design
Hometown: Redondo Beach, CA
Program Position: General Manager | KCSC
How did you first get connected with KCSC?
During my first week at CSU, Chico I was walking by the BMU and I heard the KCSC table playing an Outkast song I really liked, so I started talking to one of the interns and he convinced me to get involved with the Station. Since then I have worked in basically every staff starting with our promotions staff and eventually moving onto our library staff. While I never officially held a director position before I became General Manager, I spent my four semesters at KCSC working incredibly hard in as many different aspects as I could. I was out tabling in front of the BMU, creating video content for our website, writing reviews of local music shows, and had a large role in our very successful vinyl sale.
How would you describe your role as the General Manager at KCSC?
My role is to bring the best out of my interns. KCSC is a wonderful opportunity to receive music industry and broadcasting experience and I want to be able to provide everyone with the resources to be successful.
What does working at KCSC do for you personally, professionally, or academically?
KCSC has helped me find a group of friends that I wouldn’t trade for anything. We share music we like and it helps us diversify ourselves because there are a lot of different characters in KCSC.
What do YOU bring to the table in your role as the General Manager?
I’m trying to take KCSC in a couple different directions during my time as General Manager. I’m a little on the younger side, but I have two years left at Chico so I want to try some new ideas that I feel could greatly benefit the station and the community.
What are your career plans and how does your role with the Associated Students better prepare you for that path?
I would like to go into television production as a writer and my role at Associated Students helped me understand how to work as a team and diversify everyone’s roles. There is so much that goes into an organization like Associated Students and in order for it to function and be successful.
