Cathryn joined CAVE as Program Coordinator in January 2018 with a decade of experience working with youth and their families in community based organizations in Philadelphia and San Francisco.
In Philadelphia, Cathryn got her Bachelors of Social Work from Temple University and worked with an arts and culture center called Norris Square Neighborhood Project. There she fell in love with community work as she helped to run the after school program and summer camp and led a youth-led silk screening business called Prodigies.
Inspired by community based education models, Cathryn went to graduate school for Human Rights Education at the University of San Francisco, where she concentrated on Ethnic Studies. She then worked with the Youth Leadership Institute (YLI), a non-profit working with youth throughout the state on public health research, policy and campaigns. At YLI, she was the Youth Philanthropy Manager and led a youth to youth grant making program that annually gave out $60 to projects for social change in San Francisco.
Cathryn came to Chico in 2016 with her partner and her young son and is eager to work with CAVE connecting campus to community. She can also be seen around Chico with Pedal Press, a mobile silk screening community project she started with a friend.
