How did you first get connected with Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE)?
I’ve always been interested in CAVE and the work their staff and volunteers do for the community. However, I didn’t get connected with CAVE until my junior year when I got hired as one of their Front Desk Assistants (FDA). And ever since then it has been an amazing opportunity to meet and work with courteous, kind, and influential people.

How would you describe your role as a Front Desk Assistant (FDA) for CAVE?
There are many tasks and roles that I must do in order to keep the office in order and running smoothly, however, my favorite role is being able to continuously motivate and empower countless student leaders in our community.

What does working at CAVE do for you personally, professionally, or academically?
CAVE has not only made me a stronger leader, but it has also allowed me to become more of an inspirational and knowledgeable person in our community and on our campus. I love having the opportunity to work with people who care so much about others and about our community because it’s a life changing experience. Overall, I work with numerous students, volunteers, and professional staff who constantly help broaden my horizons and help me grow personally, professionally, and academically.

What do YOU bring to the table in your role as CAVE’s Front Desk Assistant?
I am an extremely determined, reliable, and compassionate person. These three qualities in particular keep the office moving smoothly and progressively. In addition, I am there to constantly motivate and support all of the CAVE staff while getting operational tasks completed and bringing a kind and friendly attitude to both staff and students.

What are your career plans and how does your role with the Associated Students better prepare you for that path?
As for my immediate CAVE plans, I do hope to move up to a Director’s Assistant or even a Director position. However, as for a student majoring in Political Science, I have many different career opportunities that I may seek out and discover. However, all the skills I’ve learned (communication, leadership, etc.) will always apply to any political science career in my future.
