Major: Business Management
Hometown: Roseville, CA
Program Position: Fitness Staff | WREC
How did you first get connected with the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC)?
My girlfriend Meghan worked the front desk at the WREC, so as soon as the position opened up, I was immediately notified by her and I applied that day.
How would you describe your current role as WREC fitness staff?
My job as fitness staff is to make sure the customers are abiding by the rules to ensure safety at all times. We also go around and make sure that all the equipment is in the correct place and working properly to ensure that the facility is not only clean but safe as well.
What does working in for the WREC do for you personally, professionally, or academically?
Personally it motivates me to go work out more because I am already there. For me the hardest part is just getting there. Professionally this job enables me to work in a different field than other jobs I have worked in previously. Academically it helps me because I see classmates at the WREC who remind me of work that I need to get done.
What do YOU bring to the table in your role as WREC fitness staff?
I bring an outgoing and hardworking personality. I am willing to help anyone with whatever they need. Whether it is a coworker or a customer, I am always ready to help them to the best of my abilities. My outgoing personality helps me in this job by being able to interact with my coworkers and customers confidently.
What are your career plans and how does your job with the Associated Students better prepare you for that path?
If all goes as planned, my career would be a management position in sports. I think that the WREC could help me if, down the road, I would move up in the ranks and have a management position. That would help tremendously in getting a feel for what it is like to run a business.
