Meet Harvester! Connor Drake is the Operations Manager of Harvester. Learn more about the business and their delicious dishes below.
What made you want to start a food truck business?
While Connor Drake is not the owner of Harvester, he operates and manages the food truck. Harvester is part of a local restaurant, Capay’s Harvester, in Orland, CA. He says that he enjoys the experience of being able to go to different places and seeing different people from all walks of life so a food truck is great for that.
What are ways Chico State students can help other local businesses like yours?
Drake says, “Come get food! If you want some good ol’ town style food, come on by for a country-esque meal.” He hopes students and staff will stop by and check out their locally made cuisine.
What is one of the best-selling items and how does it make you different from other food trucks?
One of Harvester’s bestselling items is the Tri Tipper Mac Bowl. This delicious bowl includes smoked tri tip, jalapenos, and BBQ drizzle. What makes Harvester different is that they smoke all of their meat in house. Their loaded mac bowls are packed with amazing flavor and is a hit among students and staff alike.
What is an item on your menu that is underrated, and you think more students should try?
The most underrated menu item that students should try is the Hot n Spicy Burger. This burger has Sriracha mayo with sweet chili sauce on it as well as cheddar, jalapenos, and onion rings to top it off. Give it a try!
What is the best aspect of being able to have your food truck on campus?
According to Drake, the best part of being on campus is the diversity and social aspect. There are many different types of people on campus from all over, so being able to hear their stories while taking orders feels great. Drake says that “even though it’s small talk, it’s still nice to be able to connect with others.” Food is one of the biggest ways to make connections.
What are some gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan options on your menu?
Unfortunately, Harvester does not have any vegan options. They also don’t have a gluten free option on the menu, but are able to put a burger on a bed of shredded lettuce. As for vegetarian, they have sides like fries and onion rings, and of course, Mac Bowls. You can dress up these bowls by adding jalapenos or extra drizzle of their sauces, such as ranch, bbq, Sriracha, mayo, buffalo, and their own Harvest sauce.
Harvester can be found on campus Monday-Friday at one of our various designated food truck spots on campus, and sometimes at Nettleton Stadium supporting Chico State Athletics events.
