Casting Memory

Opening September 30

Artists: Raquel Desimone | Emily Kuehn | Linnea Carr | Jasmyn Wilson | Carley Hayes | Lulu Smith

"The process of casting bronze and aluminum sculptures uses the lost wax technique to create pieces that last a lifetime and beyond. Bronze has an enduring history and has been used by artisans since 3000 BC, and the allure of aluminum as a recycled material speaks to the current awareness of our global climate. Themes explored are ‘relics’, ‘tools’, and ‘multiples’. Each student’s unique ideas culminated in pieces that tell a personal narrative through the exploration of fragmented memories."

Lulu Smith
