FREE Belay Classes

Interested in learning how to belay or simply refine your skills?

Belay certification is required before belaying in the climbing gym. Classes are designed to teach the basic skills and techniques required to belay in a top rope setting. All equipment will be provided.

Upon completion of the class, or if you have prior knowledge of belaying, a test must be taken in order to receive your certification. You may take the belay certification test any time the gym is open!

Belay classes are free, and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please arrive on time.

Need Equipment?
Basic climbing equipment is available, FREE of charge at the WREC Climbing Gym. Available equipment includes shoes, harnesses, chalk, and for those who are belay certified, ATC belay devices and carabiners are also available. The WREC Climbing Gym also has a large area dedicated to bouldering, which does not require the use of equipment or belaying.

Socks are required to use our climbing shoes.

Occasionally, we host climbing competitions to help foster opportunities to build skills and make friends! Keep an eye on the WREC calendar for upcoming events.
