Program Description
CAVE Community Days are one-time volunteer events designed for Chico State students looking to make an impact with limited availability. These projects partner with a variety of local agencies and offer an easy, meaningful way to get involved. Students can sign up individually or members of clubs and organizations can register on their own to participate together.
Location of Program:
Varies for each CAVE Community Day but often close to campus and within Chico city limits.
Days/Times:
Most CAVE Community Days run from 10am-1pm on Saturday’s, with some projects falling on different days/times. Full event details including shift start and end times, project scope, and location can be found on our CatsConnect page. Registration for one-time events will open 3 weeks prior to the event on CatsConnect.
Our Fall 2026 Community Days will be:
- Saturday, October 3 - Support a local community garden in Paradise! Transportation is provided.
- Saturday, October 24 (Make a Difference Day) - Our annual day of service in the Fall, with over 6+ project sites to choose from!
- Saturday, November 7 - Help us clean up around the Chico Creek Nature Center!
- Saturday, November 14 - Join us for a bike path cleanup to keep our campus community safe and clean!
- Saturday, November 22 - Support the garden at Gateway Science Museum as we help them prep for winter!
- Saturday, December 5 - Join us for Brunch with Santa and bring some joy to local youth!
- Sunday, December 6 - Create “Winter Break Boxes” for kids at the Esplanade House to keep them busy during Winter Break!

Interested in Collaborating on a CAVE Community Day?
CAVE Community Days are one-time volunteer experiences that connect Chico State students with local programs and nonprofit organizations to support meaningful community projects.
If your organization is interested in partnering with CAVE for a future Community Day:
- Please plan for a minimum of six weeks of lead time before your proposed event date. This allows time for us to review the project, coordinate logistics, complete any necessary approvals, and determine whether the opportunity is a good fit for CAVE and our student volunteers.
- Contact the CAVE Program Director Katey at kvonmosch@csuchico.edu with your project idea, proposed timeline, and relevant details.
Please note that submitting a request with six or more weeks of lead time does not guarantee that CAVE will be able to host the event. Each request is reviewed based on the project scope and requirements, student volunteer interest, CAVE staffing and capacity, risk management requirements, logistical considerations, and whether the proposed event fits within our semester timeline and program schedule.
