Chico, CA – November 1, 2024 – Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE) has announced that it will no longer be accepting applications for its Enloe Health S.C.R.U.B.S. program effective Spring 2025. This decision comes as part of the organization’s re-evaluation of semester-long programs and community need.
Since its inception in January 2022, the S.C.R.U.B.S. program has served as an opportunity for Chico State students to volunteer within the medical field at Chico’s premier medical center, Enloe Health Enloe Medical Center. Since 1966, CAVE’s mission has been to serve a broad base of community needs through meaningful volunteer opportunities and the development of student leaders. Thanks to the support from CAVE, we have reached a level of service for Enloe’s community that surpasses anticipated future needs.
We appreciate our partnership with Enloe Health and the health system’s continued support of the CAVE program. Heather Harris, Supervisor of Enloe Health Volunteer Services, shared, “It’s been an absolute privilege working with the staff and students in the CAVE program over the last three years. It’s been a rewarding experience, and I look forward to offering impactful volunteer opportunities in the future.”
The program will continue through the remainder of the Fall 2024 semester. Enloe Health continues to offer other volunteer opportunities for Chico State and Butte College students and will continue to support volunteers who began their journey with CAVE S.C.R.U.B.S.
CAVE continues to offer impactful volunteer opportunities, such as Torres Shelter and Boys & Girls Club, to Chico State students. CAVE continues to look for new one-time and semester-long service opportunities for students looking to get involved on campus and off. We are currently exploring options for new programs and would love your feedback.
Know of an organization in need of support? We want to hear suggestions about new ideas and opportunities that will help us continue fulfilling a broad base of community needs in Chico. Our goal is to learn more about opportunities people are interested in, identify potential partnership opportunities with local, non-profit organizations, and assess unmet community needs for program alignment.
Please click the form link below to put in your semester-long suggestions, along with any one-time event opportunities (known as Weekend Wildcats) you'd like to see CAVE offer in the future!
