Program Description
Volunteers serving at the Torres Shelter have the opportunity to maintain resources and provide a safe and clean environment for the individuals served. Volunteers can support the shelter in one of three ways:
- Direct Care Provider Assistant: Assist our direct care providers with assisting at the services desk, cleaning, laundry, prepping for new guests, and assisting with intake processes. Assist with chore set-ups, and guest bins, and ensuring completion of the sign-in sheet for current guests.
- Kitchen Assistant: Assist with daily duties such as dishes, labelling shelves, and ensuring proper cleaning is completed. Assist Head Chef and Kitchen Manager with meal prep, cooking, and service. Assist with organizing shelves, pantry and supplies. Complete inventory and stock rotation. Learn about the Nutritional needs of individuals experiencing housing insecurity.
- Facilities Assistant: Assist our facilities manager with landscaping and beautifying the shelter grounds and outside of the building. Assist with gardening, planting and watering vegetables and herbs. Assist with maintaining the pet area, the kennels, dog park prep, and sanitation.

101 Silver Dollar Way (2.8 miles from campus- car necessary)
Days/Times:
Days and times include 1-3 hour flexible shifts, 7 days a week between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Program Requirements:
Background check conducted by the Torres Shelter, on-site orientation and training. Volunteers must be 18 years or older to volunteer at the Torres Shelter.
