The First-Year Leadership Opportunity (FLO ) program is designed specifically for first-year Chico State students who want to get involved on campus and in the community.

  • Freshman and first-year transfer students at Chico State are welcome

  • Creates a safe space for students to find a community on campus

  • Weekly meetings to integrate basic life skills

  • Encourages students to explore more opportunities across campus

First Year Leadership Opportunity: What to Expect

  • Build strong connections with other first-year students and the campus community
  • Develop professionally through workshops and civic engagement activities
  • Grow personally through reflective journaling and a Leadership Portfolio
  • Learn about opportunities to get involved on campus and in the local community
  • Receive two units upon completion of the program
  • Weekly meetings

Participant Requirements

  • Must be an incoming first-year student at CSU, Chico
  • 2-3 hours per week attending meetings, programs and events
  • Prior leadership experience is not a prerequisite to this program
