Two years ago, Steven Figone attended Adventure Outings raft guide school as a sophomore at Chico State. Now an Adventure Outings trip leader and a raft guide for All-Outdoors — a whitewater rafting company based on the American River — Steven speaks about how A.O.'s ten day raft guide training with his fellow students brought him personal and professional growth and opportunities that he never expected.
"When I signed up for guide school, I never intended to guide over the summer," he said. "It just sounded like a really neat opportunity to spend a whole week whitewater river rafting, and camping, and enjoying time with my friends."
Now 20 years old, Steven has been a raft guide on the American River for two summers, and in addition to rafting and kayaking on rivers throughout California, he has also rafted through the Grand Canyon in Arizona and on the Pacuare River in Costa Rica.
