There’s no such thing as bicycle insurance, but there is a lot of assurance our Associated Students Bike Hub, the campus bicycle repair program run by Adventure Outings, can provide!
This program, which started as the Bike Cart in 1998, offers basic repair services – Later expanding into the Bike Hub at Bell Memorial Union with additional offerings including a basic tune and a full tune that covers all your bicycle needs. While you will find several other bike shops in town, the Bike Hub offers lower prices for bike repairs, and students also receive additional discounts!
Earlier this year, the Bike Hub halted operations and began the process to move to a new location. Signs went up and boxes were packed.
The Bike Hub is now located along the bike path in front of Holt Hall, making it more accessible to bicyclists on campus. After the closure of Holt Station, Associated Students leadership see this move bringing new life to this area, expanding our reach across campus. The Bike Hub is the perfect place to service your bike and to learn about the best maintenance practices thanks to our skilled bike mechanics!
The Bike Hub helps support AS student jobs by providing meaningful employment to skilled bicycle student mechanics on campus. It reinforces the AS commitment to sustainability by encouraging alternative transportation and provides an economic way for the Chico State community to keep their bicycles mechanically sound.
The Bike Hub also puts on a semi-annual Bike Auction once every Fall and Spring semester! The auction upholds our value of sustainability by upcycling donated bikes from Chico State University Police, Chico Police Department, and the community.
Proceeds are donated to the Get Outdoors Fund, a scholarship dedicated to helping students of all backgrounds attend Adventure Outings trips. In efforts to provide bicycle safety equipment for free or at a reduced cost to students, theBike Hub also partners with AS Sustainability and other campus and community partners!
If you see the Bike Hub, stop by and say hi to our mechanics or bring your bike in for a diagnostic if you are experiencing issues! Locations and hours can be found online.
