Position Vacancies

Occasionally, the Government Affairs Office has openings for elected student representative positions. Any person appointed to fill a vacancy is required to possess the qualifications of the office to which they are to be appointed. A vacancy in the office of the AS President shall be filled by the AS Executive Vice President. A vacancy in the office of any other elected officer shall be filled by approval of the Board of Directors.

There are currently no vacant Officer or Senator positions for AS Government Affairs.


RECENT VACANCIES:

Commissioner of Student Organizations and Resources (SOAR): The Commissioner of Student Organizations and Resources chairs the Events and Diversity Programming Allocation Council (EDPAC), which currently is responsible for allocating funds to student organizations wanting to host on-campus events.  During fall 2020 events funded will be limited to virtual opportunities only and the Commissioner will be focused on continuing to develop the duties of Commissioner position and the scope and infrastructure of EDPAC.  Additionally, this position is responsible for educating student organizations and the campus community about available resources, involvement opportunities and supporting the annual Time Capsule event.


Senator for the College of Engineering, Computer Science & Construction Management (ECC): The Senator for the College of Engineering, Computer Science & Construction Management acts as the link between the Associated Students, and their respective college. This position sits on the Student Academic Senate along with student senators from each college in the university. Together they are responsible for representing the student voice on issues related to the curricular experience. Additionally, senators serve on campus-wide committees and act as a liaison between students and college administrators to increase communication, interaction, and cooperation between administration, faculty, and the Associated Students.
