On August 25th, the Associated Students debuted Cats On Blast, a brand new traditional event to kick off the Fall 2021 semester. Cats On Blast was a major milestone as it was the first large-scale, in-person event that the AS has put on since returning to campus. The event was held in the Trinity Commons, just outside of the BMU. Students could stop by on their way to and from classes, or stay awhile and get to know everything AS.

At the event, students were able to meet all of the AS Programs, such as:

Each program offered information about their areas and opportunities that they are currently or will be offering. AS Dining Services helped programs like Adventure Outings, Government Affairs, and Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE) provide snacks -and even bugs- for students while they explored the event. Activities included adding to the AS Sustainability nature mandala, writing and decorating a card for firefighters with CAVE, tie-dyeing shirts with the First-Year Leadership Opportunity (FLO) program, and much more. Students were also able to sign up for raffles and compete in challenges hosted by our live DJ.

The AS also used this event as an opportunity to show off their rebrand. The rebrand replaces the late AS “pineapple” with a more centralized look, featuring the head of the Chico State Wildcat. This new symbol is seen in all of the AS programs, but with varying colors to showcase a more individual program identity with a more unified look. The rebrand marks a new era of the Associated Students, centered on the idea of “one team, many players.”
